Happy 20 Months, Sean!

My little boy has been quite the chatterbox this month.  From naming relatives finally to putting together two or three concepts (words) at once, this is a language teacher's dream!  I've even started exploring ways to teach him Spanish this summer.  Because in case my summer off of work isn't full of getting the nursery set up, transitioning Sean to a toddler bed and new furniture, creating maternity leave plans, and working on things around the house, I've also envisioned teaching Sean basic Spanish, numbers, and his ABC's.

Favorite Toys/Activities:
  • Planes, trains, and automobiles.  Seriously.  This kid LOVES cars.  It's the first thing he talks about in the morning and I'd wager to say he probably dreams about them too.  But, we've finally expanded that love to airplanes, trains, trucks, and boats.
  • Sesame Street.  He'll sit through Murray, the intro, and the first few minutes of the show before losing interest.  And he'll always pop back in when he hears Elmo's World come on.
  • OUTSIDE!  All you have to do is say the word and he's standing at the door waiting for us to let him out.  He plays with his cars outside, his water table, bubbles, balls, and loves wagon rides.
  • Still books.  Can't complain about that.  He loves going to the library to pick out new books and requires them to be about animals, dogs, cars, or trucks.
  • His play kitchen or I should say mine from when I was a kid.  Thanks to my parents' hoarding ways, they opened the attic and brought over all the "treasures" they saved for moments like these.
  • Blocks.  Daycare seems to think he's a genius because he can stack 10+ blocks at once.  I wish I could remember to bring my cell phone in when I drop him off and they have the blocks out because it's truly incredible how good he is at stacking blocks.
Favorite Foods:
  • Watermelon!
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
  • Italian sausages that I cook in the crock pot all day
  • Spaghetti and meatballs!
  • Broccoli - still.  He'll eat it by handfuls.

Sean learned how to fish this month when we took him up north for Memorial Weekend!  While he wouldn't touch the worm or the fish, it was fun to seem him interested in it.  Like I thought he would be, he's loving airplanes and boats right now.  Every time we take him for a walk he points in the sky and says airplane (airplee) and sure enough, there's an airplane!  Big boy can go down the slide all by himself, get up, and run back up to climb up to go down again.  He's able to walk up the steps by using the railing for support, but still needs some help going down the steps.  He loves to do art at school and it's so fun to see all his projects when I pick him up!

While eating can sometimes be a challenge, he's still really good about eating fruit and he loves broccoli so at least I know I can get one vegetable in every day.  He loves to feed Bailey from the table and tends to throw some things still, but I think we're getting the hang of his eating habits these days and since we've understood his needs, he's been eating better.  He still doesn't want any dessert, ice cream or popsicles included.  Weirdo...

I can't fathom this kid getting any cuter, but he just continues to every month when I do these updates!  I'm so proud of how much he's accomplished in the talking department since I was worried we had a late start.  He's truly such a happy, go-lucky little boy!

Now that there's only four months until his second birthday, I need to get on the ball with his second birthday party.  Any ideas anyone?!
