4 Months Old

I'm just going to start by saying that time needs to slow down! How is he 4 months old already?! With his first Christmas and New Year under his belt, it's safe to say that December was non-stop. Poor Evan couldn't keep up with our pace and had two upper respiratory infections resulting in a trip to the Emergency Room and a trip to Urgent Care on Christmas Day. He's responded well to the amoxicillin both times and seems to be feeling better each day. With the holidays over and a few days left of our Christmas Vacation, we're desperately trying to slow down so that Evan can heal.
Even though he had some set-backs with the colds, his skin has improved drastically! I did an update post a few weeks ago that showed how his eczema was already clearing up on his legs, arms, and chest. Aside from the scratch on his forehead (thanks to those baby nails growing faster than I can keep up with), his skin on these 4 month pictures is almost clear!
Evan has been keeping us busy too! He has rolled over from both back to tummy and tummy to back a few times. Tummy time is really starting to become more fun since it's always a surprise when he decides to grace us with a roll or two! He holds his neck up so well! He reaches for toys and can hold them with either both hands or one hand. And, of course, everything has to go in his mouth!
We have him on a great routine! He's in bed by 7:30-8pm every night after having a bath and bottle. He was getting up twice a night to eat while he was sick since he wasn't having much of an appetite during the day, but now that he's feeling better he's only getting up once. And then once he's up for the day we follow the eat, play, sleep routine and have him going down for 3 naps. Although, I'm anxious to drop the last nap that's usually around 4pm or so. While his naps aren't always long, they're at least 45 minutes and he's great about napping either in his crib or in the swing (oh my gosh - the swing!). The swing is finally getting used! It only took him 3 months or so to really appreciate how relaxing and wonderful it really is!
From helping give Evan a bath to showing him (and sharing with him) all his toys, Sean is really such a great big brother! He loves to give Evan kisses and our fears of Sean using his teeth during one of those kisses are now in the past. Sean always wakes up and says, "Hi, baby Evan" to start his day when he sees Evan in the kitchen and he has to run in Evan's room and give him a kiss goodnight before he goes to bed. While it was intense the first couple of weeks when Evan was born, it's times like these that reinforce how having two this close together was a great idea!
Stats:
- Size 2 diaper.
- 6 month clothes, some 3-6 months, but that's getting phased out.
- Eats every 3 hours or so with a 4 ounce bottle.
- Wakes up once a night to take a 4 ounce bottle.
- 7:30-8pm bedtime and wakes around 7am usually.
- Bath every night!
- Drooling! It's started...
- Eating his hands and fingers.
- Blowing raspberries.
- Making all kinds of sounds. Seriously, this kid loves to talk.
- Sleeping on his side now.
- The swing!
- Rolling over occasionally.
- Sophie - The Giraffe!
- Giggling when being tickled or when made to clap.
- Singing Patty-cake, the itsy-bitsy spider, ABC's, twinkle twinkle, etc.

With the eczema and milk protein intolerance issues resolved for now, a routine in place, and a thriving active baby, life is good.
