WDW Day 6: Hollywood Studios!!

It was finally the day to explore Hollywood Studios!  We were there one evening for a late dining reservation and Fantasmic, but I ready was to see what Hollywood Studios had to offer!  A late night before caused a later start Monday morning.  We decided to drop our first FastPass for the Disney Jr. Live Show.  Our logic was that the kids would see the characters at our lunch reservation at Hollywood and Vine and that the last show (Lion King) was too loud for Sean.  We switched it to Star Tours later in the morning and that was a wise idea.

At park opening at 9am, we rushed off to see Buzz Lightyear and Woody!  The line was minimal and we got lucky and saw a Green Army Man on our way over!

The kids loved Buzz and Woody!  I was a little disappointed in the photographer there that day, but oh well.

We had a while until our FastPass for Toy Story Midway Mania, so we decided to head over to the Great Movie Ride.  Huge mistake.  The line said 20 minutes.  40 minutes later we were still deep in line and everyone was sick of the wait.  In fact, that was probably the longest we waited for anything.  None of the workers mentioned anything wrong with the ride itself.  After 6 days on vacation with minimal issues, this was my moment to snap.  I made everyone get out of line and we stormed out.  So, 40 minutes were wasted and we didn't even ride the ride.  Grrr!!!

I think our faces sum up that experience here.

Here's our schedule of our day in Hollywood Studios:

Breakfast at the hotel
Meet Buzz and Woody
Great Movie Ride
Toy Story Midway Mania (FastPass at 10:15am)
Star Tours (FastPass at 11:00am)
Meet Mike and Sully
Meet Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater
Tower of Terror (FastPass at 1:00pm)
Frozen Parade
Lunch at Hollywood and Vine (1:40pm reservation)

After my mini-tantrum with the Great Movie Ride, we regrouped and headed over to Toy Story for our FastPass.  And thankfully, that cheered everyone up!  What a fun ride!  I can see why the FastPass is so popular for that ride.  I wish we could have gone on it again and again!

Next up was Star Tours.  Evan wasn't tall enough so he sat out with Grandma.  This ride was much better than Mission Space over in Epcot.  I think I'm realizing simulators are not really my thing.  Give me a rollercoaster and I'm in heaven.  But, a simulator?  I want to vomit.

We went to find Evan and my mom to discover they weren't in either of the two meeting spots we discussed and we had her backpack that had her cell phone in it.  Enter panic mode.  We spent a half an hour going back and forth between the two spots and finally found them.  Now, we all needed a Mickey Ice Cream bar to chill out.  Seriously.

In case that wasn't traumatic enough, as Sean was walking back to us with his ice cream bar, a motorized scooter ran him over.  Like knocked him on the ground, ran him over.  The nerve of those people...driving as fast as they do in crowds like that.  At least he wasn't hurt.  In fact, he handled it quite well and laughed along as my mom proceeded to sing, "Sean-y got ran over by a scooter" to the tune of "Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer".  Clever.

We cut our losses and went over to find some characters to meet.  And it was well worth it!  So much fun!

Last stop before lunch was the Tower of Terror ride with a FastPass.  Once again, Evan would sit out with Grandma.  However, my dad decided to sit out too.  So, it was just me, Scott, and Sean.  I should add that even though kids measure tall enough for these rides does not mean they're ready for them!  I should have realized that before taking him on it.  He was so freaked out!  He held it together though and vowed he wouldn't ride it again.

On our way to Hollywood and Vine, we caught the Frozen Parade coming down the main drag.  It was really cute!  And a great way to spend our time while we waited for our table.  Even though we had a reservation we still waited close to 20 minutes.

Once we finally got in, the lunch was nice!  The buffet had lots of choices and a great dessert bar.  The characters came fairly soon after we sat down and the boys were thrilled to see them!

After a late lunch we were ready to get out of the heat and go back to the hotel.  I could have easily spent more time in the park going to some shows, but the kids were ready.  Of course they both caught random "cat" naps while in the park and on the bus ride back, so once we were back they wanted to swim.  The main pool was closed from an incident with a drain, so we went back to the one closest to our room and ordered pizza room service while we swam.

The kids loved their "pizza picnic" in front of the TV in our room after swimming.  It was such a nice, relaxing evening!  The adults played "Uno" on the patio after the kids went to bed as we tried to stay optimistic even though our trip was coming to an end.  One more full day tomorrow and then we would be Michigan-bound!
