I don't know what it was about this year and Easter, but I felt totally unmotivated. Lazy, almost. I forgot to get their Easter books out of the closet until the night before. Normally, we'd be reading those the whole month before. No trip to see the bunny at any mall. Sometimes it's nice to take a more relaxed approach to the holidays.
Don't get me wrong. We still dyed eggs Thursday night when we all got out on spring break.
And we still made it to an egg hunt at the Plymouth Township Park Saturday morning with Scott's side of the family. Man, was it chilly!
So, I guess you could say we still got in the Easter spirit. It just felt more laid-back this year. Which was nice.
After the hunt everyone came back to our house for brunch. The weather warmed up enough to let the kids play outside. The kids all got to hunt for eggs again that Nana and Pops brought filled with money. Sean and his cousin Sydney were plotting their Target trip to spend their money.
Easter morning rolled around and the bunny hopped it's way to our house overnight. Sean wanted to not only leave out carrots for the bunny, but a hand-written card saying, "I love you bunny". What a sweetheart!
We were able to hold the kids in bed until about 7:15am and then we all headed downstairs to let the kids search for their goodies. Sean's was on top of the china cabinet and Evan's was hiding in the blanket basket.
We all ate a nice breakfast and got read for church at 11. We got one of the last seats at church! Phew! The boys did great and we stopped at home for a quick lunch before heading over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner with my side of the family.
The boys loved getting more Easter baskets from my parents and from my Grandma. I think it was Easter basket overload! We'll be hiding all that candy to give out slowly.
It was actually nice enough outside for the boys to swim in the hot tub. So, Scott and I grabbed some cocktails and hung out on the deck while we watched the boys swim. And...no swim arms for either of them! With supervision, they did great on their own in the hot tub! Thanks, Aqua Tots!
It was such a beautiful day! Both outside and spent with family! While we didn't "do it all" and "see it all" during this Easter season, we still made it a memorable one. Now...to enjoy the rest of our spring break home together!
