New Year's Eve 2017!

New Year's Eve planning took some effort this year, as it seems to have the past few years with all our friends starting their own families.  Most of our friends were opting to stay in at home, especially given the brutally cold weather.  Our neighbors, Shelley and Jay with their daughter Nevaeh, bought tickets to the Livonia Rec Center for their NYE family event from 4-7pm and picked up some tickets for us too!

Not knowing what to expect other than what was advertised, we were wowed with all the activities and the fact that it didn't feel crowded.

Sean did the rock wall first.  Evan was about 7 months too young to participate since kids have to be 6 or older to climb the wall.  Sean enjoyed it, but was afraid of going very high.  He made it about 1/3 of the way up the wall before climbing back down.

The kids all wanted to swim next and we spent over an hour in the pool!  The hot tub was so hot and comfortable.  The kids reached their limit and wanted to eat after that.

For food they had Little Caesar's pizza, salad, chips, cotton candy, and sno-cones.  I only ate some salad since I was saving my appetite for some carry-out Chinese on the way home, but the boys thoroughly enjoyed the food!

After eating, the kids bounced in the bounce house, got airbrush tattoos, played in the "tree house", and made crafts in the craft room.  We ended the event by posing with the photo booth props.  It was a lot of fun and for $13 per person, it was well worth the cost.

We picked up Chinese at a new-to-us restaurant on the way home and it was so good!  We've been on the hunt to find a good Chinese place around us for years and have not found anything, until now.  Shelley, Jay, and Nevaeh came to our house.  The kids watched Scooby Doo 2 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory while the adults all played board games.  Somehow the kids made it up till midnight and were able to count down with us and ring in the New Year.  It was a really fun evening!

Happy New Year and welcome 2018!  We're ready for ya!
