Happy New Year!
On the last day of 2019 we woke up to snow! Not much, but enough that the boys wanted to get on their snow stuff and head outside. That lasted all of 10 minutes before they were back in demanding hot chocolate...
We laid low most of the day since we were leaving at 3:30pm to head over to the Livonia Rec Center to meet up with the Green family and the Helton family for the NYE party there. The boys played with their new Hex Bugs and made a maze for them to go through with blocks. We set up Sean's new Dribble Up smart soccer ball and both Sean and Evan tried it out. It's tough!
We arrived at the Rec Center right as the party started and were some of the first few people in the pool. It was nice having the pool practically to ourselves for 20 minutes or so. The boys loved the slide and the hot tub. We spent over an hour in the pool before getting out to change for dinner.
Dinner was the usual: Pizza, chips, salad, sno-cones, cotton candy, and popcorn. We all ate wayyyy too much!
The kids did the treehouse for a little while and then got in line to climb the rock wall and the ladder. Evan opted to do the ladder this year and made it to the top and rang the bell! Sean did the wall, which is harder and made it about half way up.
Then it was time for the balloon drop! The kids counted down from ten and had a blast trying to catch the balloons and pop them. It was so loud in the gym! I couldn't wait to get out of there.
We got our stuff, took a group photo and headed back to our house. Everyone else came over about an hour later after the kids changed into pajamas and the adults freshened up. The kids ran around playing, did Minecraft together on tablets, and played Twister. The adults enjoyed a game of euchre and some Cards Against Humanity with the expansion pack. It was a fun night and we're ready for all that 2020 has in store!
