With our quarantine still in full effect, we did not take our spring break trip to Florida and Disney. We were not planning on doing our typical Easter festivities this year with Scott's family over for brunch and church and celebrating with my family on a separate day because of the majority of our family's travel plans. But, it still stung a bit to not be able to attend church or not be able to visit with family given the quarantine and social distancing. We did our best to try and still do some of our other Easter traditions.
I got creative with Palm Sunday and Good Friday this year. The boys watched tutorials on youtube that were kid friendly and we did some arts and crafts to better understand the meaning of these days. We watched church on Palm Sunday on youtube and on Easter Sunday as well.
We dyed lots of eggs earlier in the week when the weather was lousy and the kids needed something to do. It's not my favorite family activity, but I managed to not yell...too much.
On Saturday, while the weather was nice, we did an Easter egg hunt in the back and front yard for the boys. Sean's were hidden in the backyard and Evan's were hidden in the front. While they were searching for eggs, they found a snake! Gross! We filled the eggs with a penny, a nickle, a dime, a quarter, a $1 bill, a $5 bill, and a $10 bill. Lucky boys!
That evening we decided to do a bonfire in the backyard and use some Peeps as our marshmallows. The sugar on the Peeps caramelizes as they roast....yum!
The boys left out some carrot for the bunny and Evan wrote a special note. Just like that, it was time for bed and time for the bunny to come!
The boys were up early, no surprise! They searched for their baskets with no problem. Evan's was hiding in the computer room under a chair and Sean's was in the play room behind a big bin of blocks. The kids loved their loot and had fun making stacks of their stuff all day to show it off.
We made a nice big breakfast with cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hashbrown patties.
Evan got Ghostbusters 1 and 2 on Blu-Ray from the bunny so we let the boys watch both of the movies back-to-back. We got a carry out from Compari's in downtown Plymouth! Pizza for the boys and a lasagna and salad for me and Scott. And then we played a fun game of basketball outside before bed. It was a nice day together, but we really missed our families. Happy Easter!
