A visit with our Canadian friends

The first Friday in August we hit the road and crossed over into Canada to visit one of my oldest friends from elementary school, Kristen, and her family that live in London.  We planned to meet at a beach, The Pinery, on Lake Huron and it took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to get there for us.  It was supposed to rain all afternoon, but we got lucky and it only sprinkled for a few minutes and then cleared up.  We brought lunch and drinks in the cooler and enjoyed the refreshing lake water!

We drove into London after that and dropped our bags off at Kristen's house and changed.  We went to dinner in downtown London at Tobaggan Brewery and then went on to the London Majors game (a minor league game at the oldest stadium in the world).  The kids had a blast!  Evan and Sean both got game balls as the players were warming up, Evan got a piece of a broken bat, and at the end of the game they were able to get the entire team's autographs on the field!

Saturday morning we woke up and Kristen and Justin made us bacon, cinnamon rolls, and scrambled eggs with juice.  We had a slow moving morning, which was appreciated.  The kids played video games and we sat around and talked.  The guys started smoking the ribs around lunch time with a few neighbors and Kristen and I got the kids McDonald's for lunch and took them to the splash pad in their neighborhood.

Dinner was delicious!  Kristen hosted us, a neighbor and their family, and a high school friend who lives close by with his family.  We all caught up and enjoyed our dinner.  The kids worked on Stranger Things drawings that turned out amazing.  We had a really fun evening and the kids had so much fun together playing Twister and more video games.

Sunday morning Scott and I picked up Tim Horton's donuts and coffee for everyone.  We packed and made the voyage home so I could do laundry and get ready for the NYC trip with Evan.  We had so much fun visiting and the kids raved about hanging out with Kristen's girls.  Crossing the border was pretty easy and we are already planning another visit!
