Evan's baseball tournaments: Monroe FAAST and USSSA Roses for Mom

Evan's team had their first two tournaments end of April and mid-May.  Their first tournament with in Monroe at a FAAST tournament.  There were 10 teams in their age division and they were in a pool with three other teams.  Their first two games were on a Saturday and had been weather delayed and pushed to later in the afternoon.  They had a double header.  They won their first game against the Stings 9-8 and lost their second game against the Legacy team 13-2.  Sunday we drove out to Monroe in the morning for their next game, but it was pouring.  Ten minutes after we arrived, they cancelled the entire tournament because of weather and field conditions.

The next tournament they had was Mother's Day weekend in Canton.  This was a big tournament with some pretty tough competition - lots of AAA teams playing as AA.  There were 10 teams again in his age division and they divided it up into a couple of pools.  We were with three other teams and it just so happened that one of them had some of our former teammates.  We played them first on Friday evening at 5:30pm and they whooped on us.  We lost 13-1, but we had some family come out to the game so at least Evan got to see his cousin, Luka at the end.

Saturday, they were supposed to have morning games, but they kept getting pushed back and delayed from rain that came overnight.  The fields were in bad condition.  Eventually, at about 3pm, they decided to move the games to Sunday.  So, we had the 8am and 9:45am games on Sunday morning on Mother's Day.  They played that same Legacy team from the first tournament and got whooped on again.  They lost 16-1.  Yikes...The second game we played Brighton Black and played better, but still lost 7-2.  It was a rough weekend of games.

This weekend we'll be in the suburbs of Grand Rapids for our away tournament.  It should be a fun weekend and I'm hopeful it will be a better one for us!
