This year our calendars did not align for the first time in a long time for spring break week. The boys and I were off the last week in March and Scott was off the first week of April. And with us taking two big trips to Puerto Rico and Hawaii within the last year, we decided to just lay low. It didn't help that the weather was not that great here either. It was chilly and cloudy most of the days.
We started our break off with a trip to Bearded Lamb! Evan had a baseball tournament the next morning in Toledo so we watched The Sandlot, which has become a tradition each year.
Scott took Monday off and we had talked about going to do a fun activity together as a family, but everyone was tired from the tournament in Ohio the day before and no one wanted to go anywhere. We enjoyed a lazy day at home together.
Tuesday, the boys and I went to see the live action Snow White movie with the Miller's. It was not that great of a movie. Sean and I popped into Sams Club afterwards and Evan went over to Ethan's house to hang out for a while.
Wednesday, the boys and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and on to a really fun place called The Hub, where we played fowling and met up with the Miller's again. It was actually pretty cool! We did some shopping at Nordstrom Rack too. I built a new shelf for the corner and started a new puzzle.
Thursday, Evan got contacts! It took most of the morning at his appointment and in the afternoon the kids just wanted to hang out at home and play Minecraft and baseball outside. It was nice enough for us to do a bike ride around Newburgh Lake. We grilled hot dogs for Tiger's opening game against the Dodgers and watched the game.
Friday, we went to Zach's for lunch and ran a bunch of errands including the card store, Zap Zone with free vouchers, and Kroger. Evan and I made homemade pasta for dinner and the kids and I watched Mufasa after dinner.
The rest of the weekend felt like a regular weekend to us; not spring break. Scott and I had a date night on Saturday with dinner in Northville and drinks at Northville Winery. Sunday, Evan had his Hit Trax league and we did some prep for back to work and school. We ended the weekend with a quick trip to Bearded Lamb and a severe thunderstorm warning/siren going off at home that made us go in the basement.
It was definitely not my favorite spring break, but it was also nice to have time with the boys and to let them have time to play Minecraft together, sleep in, and do some things around town. We will have other trips that will fill my "travel bucket".
