Christmas time means...

Christmas time usually is our busiest time of the year, but this year, I've really tried to tone down our commitments with people on the weekends.  I actually surprised myself and declined a cookie exchange party with girlfriends, the Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village, and the Huckleberry Railroad/Polar Express.  Too many outings, although they can be fun, often times leave us exhausted and not able to fully enjoy the season.

One outing I wasn't willing to give up this year was a trip to Frankenmuth and Bronners.  I asked Scott and my parents to go and no one really seemed interested.  Who's not a fan of their amazing chicken dinners?

Apparently my hubby.

So, a girlfriend of mine said she'd meet me there with her two little ones.  It was a lofty goal.  Four kids five and under in a giant store with thousands of breakable items, but I'm happy to report we didn't cause any damage and all four littles left with a new ornament and smiles on their faces.  The adults?  We were ready for a cocktail at lunch.

I thought the process of picking out an ornament would be easy with the boys.  Sean was on a hunt for a Lego ornament and Evan wanted a motorcycle one.  Then, we saw this wall with ALL the motorcycle ornaments to choose from and we were stuck in this spot for a good 15 minutes.

First, they both picked out these.

And then proceeded to change their minds 500 times.  They finally chose a chopper motorcycle and a round glass ornament with a semi-truck that Sean had personalized with "Sean's truck".  Can't believe he changed his mind on the Lego ornament, although it was pretty lame.

We did our obligatory pictures outside of Bronners and the kids loved the giant Santa statue!  They went right up and stood on his boots, without my prompting.

We piled into our cars and said goodbye to Bronners and Santa!  We were off a half mile down the road for some delicious German food!

Arriving at 11am, right when the restaurant opens, was about as genious as showing up to Bronners when they opened at 9am.  Even if that meant driving in crazy, ridiculous fog for an hour and a half at the butt-crack of dawn on a Saturday morning.  We were seated immediately.

The kids ate decent and they both tried the chicken.  Although, I think their favorite part was the ice cream dessert with the mermaid plastic decal.  And yes, that means we went to Zehnder's and not Bavarian Inn.

We stayed in the Christmas spirit all day.  As we left Frankenmuth, we made the voyage to Troy for an overnight at my parents' house since I had my R+F Christmas party that evening.  They wanted to take the kids to Rochester Mills for dinner and to see the lights, so we all went out at dusk before my party.

The kids were enthralled with the lights, but even more excited about Home Bakery's window display of Minions!  We stopped in for a candy cane cookie that was to die for.  And so was the price...$3.25 for one small cookie!  Yikes!

We rushed home and I was shocked that I was able to get decked out and dressed up for the cocktail party in literally 10 minutes.  My friend and sponsor was waiting in the driveway, ready to go!  We picked up 3 other consultants and spent the next four hours dancing the night away!  It was sooo much fun and the DJ was on point!

I absolutely love this side-gig!  I get to work with some girlfriends from high school, meet new people, connect with old friends on Facebook, and help people get the best skin of their lives!  And did I mention I get paid to do this?!  Ahhh so much fun!

The next morning, the boys and I packed up and headed home to see Scott.  We spent Sunday afternoon lounging around, watching The Grinch, ordering in food, and just spending quality time as a family.  My typical December would have had Sunday booked with events too, but I'm beginning to realize that sometimes less is more.
