The countdown to Christmas!

Squee!!!  We are just two nights away from the start of our Christmas celebrations and the excitement is building in our house!  Meanwhile, Scott and I are making sure we have all our ducks in a row.

Have we made a gingerbread house?

Did we welcome Santa during his arrival to downtown Plymouth?

Did the boys get a chance to sit on the big man's lap?

Did we bake Christmas cookies?

Have we taken the boys to see the Wayne County Lightfest?

Have I lost my mind yet?!  Just kidding.

No, seriously.

We've watched Home Alone, Home Alone 2, The Grinch (both the original and the Jim Carey versions), Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Mickey's Christmas Carol, and the Polar Express.

We've got our tree up, the lights up outside, our Elf has been visiting nightly, and our Christmas cards have been mailed.  The gifts are wrapped and as of tomorrow, all shopping will be finished.

I'd say we are more than ready to get our Christmas on!

And what an extra special holiday season this year with my Dad retiring from over 30 years at Chrysler.  I had the honor of attending his work retirement party at Rochester Mills Brewery last night.  It was amazing to look around the room, as his boss made a speech, at all the people who came out to celebrate my Dad closing one chapter in his life and opening another.  Christmas music played in the background, we had the back room to ourselves, and you could truly feel the love and appreciation these colleagues of my Dad had for him.

A big congrats to my Dad!  I'm so jealous of all the rest and relaxation in his future lol.

Another special holiday treat...my brother is coming to Michigan on the 26th!  I get the pleasure of picking him up from the airport since we only live 20 minutes away and I'm excited to have him crash at our house, maybe even go out for a drink or two!  I think we've decided to have him surprise the boys that following morning when they wake up and realize he's not only in Michigan, but in our house!

Between Christmas Eve with Scott's extended family, Christmas Day at home with my parents, my brother coming home for five days, New Year's Eve, and the rest of break ahead of us, we have so much to look forward to!

Happy Holidays, everyone!!
