Halloween 2020

With Halloween on a Saturday this year, we really enjoyed having the entire day to prep our annual meal with Scott's family and get the house ready for guests.  The kids had a blast wearing their costumes in the house most of the day and playing outside since it was at least sunny and warm enough.  I cooked turkey chili, mini corn muffins, mac and cheese for the kids, and mummy dogs.  I also dried and straightened my hair for the first time since...March?  Now that's scary!

Nana and Pops dressed up as "green with envy" and brought a fruit platter.  Matt and Mindy dressed up as Juno and the boy from that movie...I forget his name!  They brought a chartreuterie board with meats and cheeses.  Josh, Jackie, and the girls were characters from Hamilton and brought vegetarian chili.  And of course, our boys were Captain America and the grim reaper.  Scott and I were lame this year and skipped dressing up.

We had the Michigan/Michigan State game on that made a few family members happy and others pretty depressed.

After dinner we got ready to head out for trick-or-treating.  We all masked up and were pleasantly surprised to see so many creative ways people found to pass out candy.  From PVC pipes that were used as "candy shoots" to tables set up in people's driveways while they waved from their front porch or garage, we appreciated that most tried to make the day as special as it could be for the kids.  The restoration store at the end of our street had their big bonfire going and even was offering hayrides on a tractor.  We didn't partake, but it looked fun.  The kids got back around 8, went through their bags of candy and made some trades.  The adults started a game of euchre.

AJ ended up spending the night and the kids stayed up watching Ghostbusters.  I'd say they had a great Halloween and we enjoyed getting to host and spend time with Scott's family.
