It was a busy month of tournaments again for Evan, with no weekends off. They started with the PG Cinco de Mayo tournament at Canton Sports Center. They had a Friday night game against the Midwest Monsters and we lost pretty badly, 16-2. We played two games on Saturday against Harris Storm Black (a majors team from Ohio) and Team Elite Premier Midwest. We won the game against Team Elite 14-8. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, we did a potluck dinner of nachos at the game that was fun. But, it was super chilly! Evan went 3 for 7 at bat with one walk and pitched 2 innings with 2 strike-outs.
The following weekend we played in Legacy's Silver Slam Tournament that had games at both Founders Park in Farmington and other locations around Brighton. They played Friday night in Farmington against the Oakland Chargers and had a huge game! They won 17-1. They played a game on Saturday at Legacy against South Lyon Thunder Red and lost 9-6. And they had a game Sunday morning as a consolation game against Oakland Reds team and won 9-2. Evan had a great weekend with two home-runs. He went 4 for 8 at bat and pitched a half inning with 2 strike-outs.
Memorial Weekend we did a FAAST Tournament called the Memorial Sizzler. It had a couple of locations for games and it seemed like we did a lot of driving this weekend. Not to mention we played in pouring rain for two of the games. We played on Saturday in Milford in the rain against USA Prime and won 14-2. We were supposed to have another game that evening, but it got rained out and pushed into Sunday. Sunday, we had to be at a game in Troy in the morning against the Raptors Select and won in a nail-biter 8-7. We then had to drive to Milford for the semi-finals against Oakland Reds and lost 9-4. Another bummer that we didn't make it to the championship game! Evan struggled batting a bit and went 2 for 6 at bat with 2 walks. He didn't do any pitching that weekend.
The last weekend in May we went back out to Legacy for their Silver Slam II Tournament. Again, it had multiple locations. We played on Saturday against the Ann Arbor A's at Legacy in the morning and won 14-7. It felt good to come back and beat them! We played again later that afternoon at Hawkin's Elementary against Jet Box and lost 13-12. Sunday we played the Clarkston Riverdawgs in bracket play and beat them 12-10 and went to the semi-finals against Detroit Prospects and lost 8-6 in a great game. We played so much better this weekend and despite getting knocked out of the championship game, I'm proud of their progress. Evan went 5 for 10 at bat with 2 walks and another homerun. He pitched at the end of the game against 1 batter to get the final out and struck him out.
In addition to tournaments every weekend, the boys have had league games on Tuesday nights, defensive practices, and hitting. They've been busy! Our overall record is 20-15 (hard to believe we've played close to 40 games already this season and we still have 1.5 more months)!
