Off to Neverland 4th Birthday Party!

Last weekend we celebrated Evan's 4th birthday with 35 of our family members and closest friends!  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the best.  It poured for the first half of the party and made for a difficult drive for our friends and family, but we were able to do the games and set up the bounce house for the last hour and a half once it stopped raining.  We chose a Peter Pan/Neverland themed party for Evan!

I tried to do most of the decor to be "natural" looking since it's "Neverland" and the Lost Boys.  But, of course I had to sneak in some Captain Hook where I could.  The party favors were the Golden Book Peter Pan story for each child and a "treasure bag" where they could put all their loot from the games.

We ordered fried chicken and chicken strips from Lee's Famous Chicken here in Plymouth.  I made a garden salad and crock-pot mac and cheese, bought potato salad from Costco, and put together mixed fruit in a pirate ship from a watermelon.  My mother-in-law made the cutest veggie train!  And my mother made baked beans and coleslaw.  The food was delicious and the chicken was a big hit!

I decided to do cupcakes in the shape of the tic-toc-croc.  I ordered cupcakes from Kroger and added the teeth, toes, and eyes with frosting, marshmallows, and edible eyes.  Overall, I was pleased with how it looked and by doing cupcakes, it saved a lot of work with paper plates and plastic forks, etc.

The green frosting was a bit messy though...

The games kept the kids occupied and took very little work.  We did "Ring around the pirate sword", "Walk the plank", and "Digging for treasure".  The treasure dig seemed to be the crowd favorite, but it got a bit messy.  I feel like I'm still sweeping up sand in our house and it's been a week since the party.  The kids put their treasures in their paper bags I made for each of them to take home.

My favorite part of the decor for the party is the Lost Boys table!  It took the most work out of everything for the party, but it really paid off!  We were able to get (with help) four pallets, a piece of ply-wood, and some tree stumps.  A burlap table cloth, paper products, handmade necklaces made out of wood slices and twine, juice boxes with red feathers taped to it, and our garage was transformed into Neverland.

I'm so glad this party is over, as the planning took up a lot of my thoughts over the summer!  It was a huge success, despite the weather.  And I'd like to think all the kids enjoyed themselves!
