On the third week of December...

My true love gave to me...another cold!  Seriously, I wish I were kidding.  The head cold type with a nose so stuffy I couldn't breathe through it or taste my food.  You'd think that would make me eat less...but somehow all those cookie exchange cookies disappeared.  Hmmm...

Considering we started our week with a snow day on Monday, the rest of the work week was pretty uneventful.  Scott coached two nights, the boys had swim, and I surprised the boys after work on Thursday by taking them to see Moana...for the second time.  Yeah, it's that good.  I packed picnic dinners for the boys (PB&J sandwiches, an apple, a cucumber, and some Sno-Caps and Reese's Pieces mixed together for dessert.  Of course I still got suckered into buying popcorn, but I held it hostage until they ate half their sandwich and all their fruit.

I think it was even better the second time!  We quietly sang along to the songs we've been listening to non-stop for weeks and we alerted each other every time one of our favorite parts was coming on.  $5 matinee tickets and I didn't even feel guilty about going again...

By Friday, I was feeling full-force lousy.  Crappy day at work, crappy head cold, but I still ventured out in the cold to get our weekly grocery shopping done since another round of snow was on it's way.  And to be honest, they made it out to be much worse than it really was.  But, at least my grocery shopping was done!

Saturday morning the kids were ready bright and early to play in the snow again!  I love that our house is on the corner of a street so when the snow plow comes through we get a little hill.  The boys enjoyed sledding down that mini hill all morning.  Meanwhile, I cleaned and made a pot of chili for dinner.

By 4pm we were going a little stir-crazy and the roads were good enough, so we took the boys to the library to get some new books and play on the computers.  A good time kill for an hour and I was impressed with one of the games Sean was playing.  He was doing addition and subtraction to try and beat the computer in a race to the mountain.  I mean he still had to point and count every number each time, but he got them all right.  Making progress in Kinder!

Sunday we had big plans with Scott's family all day.  We watched our nieces in the morning for two hours and then went over to their house mid-afternoon for an early dinner to celebrate Sydney's 8th birthday and Pops' birthday too.  She had a dolphin theme kicking!

After a yummy Mediterranean dinner, cupcakes, and presents, we all went downtown to the Penn Theater to see a special showing of Elf.  The boys have seen parts of it, but not the whole thing.  They did so good!  Sean was cracking up through the whole thing and kept saying, "This is crazy!" as he looked super uncomfortable in some parts.  Evan's favorite part?  "He got hit by a car!"  Crazy kids...

And just like that - our weekend was over!  The countdown to Christmas is on!  The stress is coming in waves.  Some times throughout the day I feel pretty good about where I'm at with everything Christmas, other times I'm freaking out.  But, I have all the gifts wrapped, teacher gifts ready for tomorrow morning, and the meal plans in place for both Christmas Eve and Day.  I'm so excited to see the boys' faces on Christmas morning and I hope that we got them what they wanted this year with a few surprises!
