We're about to wrap up the third week of school (fourth week for Scott already) and I think I can finally say we have a routine. As always, fall is jam-packed with after school activities and work related events, but we make do and we try to enjoy my favorite season as much as we can. The recent weather makes me think we're back in August, instead of rolling into fall today. But, Evan's not complaining.
Our weeks are a bit hectic. Sean has catechism on Monday evenings and this week was his first class. I was a bit nervous to see would he would think of it, but he came home all smiles! It's a blessing that his cousin, Adelaide, is in class with him. Tuesdays are physical therapy for me after a very rushed dinner. Wednesdays are soccer practice for Evan led by Scott. Thursdays are physical therapy for me and practice for Sean. And luckily, we have Fridays free! Saturdays are soccer games for both boys. We considered adding cub scouts into the mix for Sean, but decided it was more of a commitment than we wanted right now. Maybe next year!
Homework has started as well. We're trying to get really get a solid after-school routine going allowing them to watch a Lego Ninjago episode on Netflix while they eat their snack, followed by dinner, followed by homework/play time/sports, and then the bedtime routine which includes reading for Sean. We're going to start doing some very early readers with Evan soon too. I think he's ready! Sean has to do 3-5 nights of spelling/sight word practice as homework. The teacher gave many suggestions on how to do this that amounts to points. He has to earn 30 points a week at home practicing. Evan gets one worksheet weekly as homework. So, it's not too bad.
The tooth fairy has been visiting our house a bunch lately! Sean lost his top tooth in August at my parent's house while the floors were being done and he lost the other top tooth last week after school one day. I actually think he looks adorable with both missing! Too bad his school and soccer pictures were before he lost the second top tooth. With only one gone, he looked a little....hillbilly.
Saturday night Scott and I went to a gorgeous wedding in Novi! My parents took the kids after their soccer games and we enjoyed a night out. My friend, Ana, from my study abroad trip to Spain back in 2005 was getting married and so I was so excited to see a bunch of girlfriends from our trip. We try and get together one a year, if not more, to see each other. She married an Indian man so the wedding was so eclectic! Indian food, traditional Indian dances, music in Spanish, and a beautiful ballroom, they spared no expense! She was stunning and overall, we had a fun night!
In other news, Bailey had her ACL surgery yesterday at the vet. She started limping over a year ago. She would limp on her back left paw occasionally, especially if she sat for a long period of time. Over the summer, randomly, she stopped walking on the paw. She hopped around for a week before we finally took her in to the vet. He suggested we try giving her anti-inflammatories for two weeks to see if that would help. Unfortunately, they did nothing to help her walk on the leg so we had no choice, but get her surgery. I baked her some homemade dog treats made out of pumpkin and peanut butter to help cheer her up and I'm anxious to see her today after Scott picks her up. It's going to be a 6-8 week healing period, so she has a long way to go. But, hopefully as the weather turns to cold, she'll be back to her usual self.
This weekend the weather will be in the 90's...yuck! Our air conditioning is on, which we were trying to avoid until yesterday. It just feels so wrong to have the air on in late September! We have pumpkins that are ready for picking for goodness sake! Evan has a game on Saturday and we're doing a small birthday party for Sean on Sunday with his two best friends from school, Corey and Kidanny. We're taking all of them to see Lego Ninjago at the theater and then back to our house for pizza and cupcakes. Should be fun! Happy fall...or something like that!
Thanks for a very interesting blog. What else may I get that kind of info written in such a perfect approach? I’ve a undertaking that I am simply now operating on, and I have been at the look out for such info.
