Halloween Events part 2

The weekend before Halloween the boys were excited to carve their pumpkins!  We went to Costco Friday evening after work and stopped by Kroger to pick up the pumpkins.  Even though we grew...17 pumpkins this year, they weren't big enough for carving.  Saturday, after Sean's last soccer game we met up with friends in Mexican Town for lunch at Taqueria Mi Pueblo where the boys got to see an Ofrenda set up and decorated.

We came home and made cider in the crockpot before carving our pumpkins.  The boys each picked a pretty difficult pattern from the carving book, so they scooped out the innards, picked out the seeds, and the rest of the work fell on me and Scott.  I quickly washed and made pumpkin seeds and the boys got in their pajamas to watch Hocus Pocus before bed.  It was a fun day!

The boys had a half day on Halloween, as usual.  My parents came out to their class parties and their parade and spent the afternoon with them at our house.  They lucked out with the parade being outside since it had been raining all morning.  They each did a craft (Sean did a spider's web with string and popsicle sticks and Evan made a mummy light out of a baby food jar, gauze, and eyes), played games, and ate fun foods.  Looks like it was fun!

I had a field trip with my Spanish 3 classes on Halloween to Mexican Town.  It wasn't our smoothest trip, but we still had a great time.  And we got lucky with no rain for the entire trip!

We had Scott's family over for dinner at our house before trick-or-treating.  My sister-in-law made chili, per tradition.  I made hot dogs and mac and cheese for the kids and my mother-in-law brought fruit.  We ate quickly, got the kids dressed in their costumes and did our usual pictures together.

And then we were off!  The kids did amazing!  They went for quite a while...probably an hour and a half.  They came home, went through their candy, did some trading, and watched a bit of the Nightmare Before Christmas with their cousins before it was bedtime.

Happy Halloween!!!
