Happy Halloween! 2019
This year was the first year in a while...if ever...where we all coordinated our costumes with the same theme and it was pretty epic! Scott's entire family joined in the Star Wars theme too.
Leading up to Halloween we had several fun events that we like to do to get in the spirit. My parents took us to Greenfield Village for their Hallowe'en event that is always so much fun. I made chili, salad, and corn bread for dinner for everyone with apple crisp for dessert and hot cider to take along in travel mugs. The weather was a little chilly, but we were grateful for a dry evening. The boys had a blast and enjoyed getting warm donuts to watch the black and white cartoons after the spooky bridge.
Another event we love leading up to Halloween is the downtown Pumpkin Palooza in Plymouth. This year we had gorgeous weather! It was borderline warm. We went for about an hour, walked around, and got a ton of loot in a short amount of time. Scott made it home for the start of the Lion's game so all was right in the world.
We carved pumpkins this week on Tuesday night after rushing through dinner and homework. It wasn't easy squeezing that in on a weeknight, but with my trip to Texas, we didn't have much choice. I'm happy to report that Sean completely cleaned and carved his pumpkin! We didn't have to step in other than to cut off the top. Evan did all his cleaning and most of his carving, but needed some help with the mouth. Overall, we were impressed! I baked pumpkin seeds and cleaned up while Hocus Pocus played in the background.
Halloween was a rush too! I rushed home from work to relieve my dad who watched the boys for us on their half day of school. He watched their costume parade in the gym at their school in the morning and took them out to lunch before playing at our house. I made homemade corn muffins and mummy hot dogs to take over to Jackie's house for an early dinner at 4:15 with everyone. Then we came back to our house at 5:30 to start trick-or-treating with Jameson and other neighbors. It was a cold, rainy night, but the boys persevered and lasted until about 7pm. They laid out their loot, made trades with their cousins, and were washed up and in bed by 8pm. What a night!
Happy Halloween from our crew to yours!! It was a great season with many fun events. But, I'm looking forward to Christmas music and some turkey and stuffing soon.
