This past weekend Eric and Ana flew into Michigan to visit since they weren't able to come over the holidays. They landed on Friday and went out in Ann Arbor with mom and dad for dinner at The Earl and drinks afterwards. On Saturday, we met up with all of them in Detroit at the Detroit Historical Museum to start our busy day in Detroit! I had no idea admission was free that Saturday so it was a bonus! The museum was really nice and I'm glad I waited to take the boys until now because they seemed the perfect ages to enjoy the museum and exhibits.
After the museum we moved the cars to a parking lot by LCA and then took the Qline over to Campus Martius. We looked at the tree and skating rink and walked next door to the Monroe Street Midway. This was so fun! They had a giant slide that was free, fire pits, bumper cars ($5 per person), an arcade inside a tent, and some other fun outdoor winter games. The kids had a blast!
The kids both won a stuffed animal in the claw and then we were off to walk over to Mootz Pizzeria for dinner. The pizza was tasty and those garlic knots....yum! We took the Qline back over to LCA for the Red Wings game. The kids loved going down to the ice during the warm-ups to try and get a puck. They had two players toss one up to them, but some bigger kids got to them first. The kids were happy to get a free bobble-head of some older players. They lost 4-3, but it was a fun evening.
We got home and went to bed. We were all exhausted from a fun day!
Sunday we met up with everyone for brunch at The Sardine Room in downtown Plymouth. After brunch, Eric and Ana came back to our house so the kids could show them all their new stuff (Legos, drum kit, etc.). We went for a walk by Newburgh Lake since the sun was out and it was...mild for winter. Then, we drove over to mom and dad's house for the afternoon and a family dinner since Paul and Mary came in from the west side of the state.
We headed back home Sunday night around 8:30. It's always hard to say goodbye, especially when we don't have anything planned for when we'd see them next. They flew back to Portland on Monday late afternoon. We enjoyed our weekend together!
