I can't believe how fast Christmas came and went. Probably in part because we worked and went to school up until the 22nd (luckily getting the 23rd off for a cold/snow day). Either way we had a great two days celebrating with both sides of the family and seeing some family we hadn't seen in long time.
Christmas Eve we got up and hit the ground running with last minute touches on gifts, food prep, and getting ready to head over to Scott's parents' house in Northville. The kids exchanged their gifts with each other and then we were off!
This year was casual Christmas attire, especially since the Lions game was on. We went at halftime to Scott's parents' house and did our gift exchange first before the rest of the family arrived. Nana had me this year and bought me the two Dime brand items I wanted (face products) and Pops had Scott and spoiled him with items for his smoker and a gift card to Total Wine. I had Matt and Scott had Nana. The kids got tons of good stuff from their aunts and uncles.
Everyone else arrived and we enjoyed appetizers, conversation, and even beer flights Matt made and prepared. Dinner was served a little while later and unfortunately, I did quite the number on the tip of my left thumb cutting apple slices for the salad I brought. Not sure if I should have gone for a stitch or two, but I opted to keep it wrapped up and hope for the best. After dinner Evan performed some songs on his guitar, which was the one thing I asked him for Christmas. He even did a little speech about dedicating my favorite Imagine Dragons song to me after my cancer journey this year.
After Evan and Chris rocked out on the guitar we had the kids change into their Christmas pajamas and we did the gift card exchange. This was the first year the kids were included in it and it was fun. The boys got the ones they came with (V-bucks and a $5 scratch off that Sean won $50 on!), I got a downtown Plymouth gift card, and Scott got Home Depot. We took some pictures, played some euchre and hung out until about 9pm. It was a slippery drive home and Santa still had to come!
Christmas morning we held the boys off until 8am to come down to open gifts. Santa came and brought just what they asked for! Sean got an electric drum kit and Evan got the Lego Empire State Building. Other big gifts this year were Mr. Beast hoodies and squishmallow slippers. We had scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, and bacon for breakfast and got ready for church.
