Evan's Baseball Tournament USSSA States

Evan's team had another tournament in June.  This time it was States and it was once again at Canton Sports Center.  Since their division, 10U AA, had 13 teams in it they actually had their first two pool games scheduled for Friday at 10:45am and 2:30pm.  We had camping scheduled from Wednesday-Friday at Sleeper State Park in Caseville that we had to reschedule in order to make it to the tournament.  Friday it rained pretty much all day.  It was a sloppy mess on the fields, but the umps made them push through.  Our first game was against the Great Lakes Renegades.  Unfortunately we lost 8-0.

Since there wasn't a whole lot of downtime in between the two games we opted to stay.  We brought some snacks and bought hot dogs from the grill at Canton Sports Center.  Evan got a tournament shirt since it had all the participating team names on the back.  They watched another Patriots team and a few other games and cheered on all the kids.  It was fun to watch them have fun as a team!

The next game was against the Detroit Bees.  It was a close one, but we lost 6-4.

Sean had spent the whole day with my parents and ended up going to dinner with them and spending the night.  So, Evan built a fort in the living room and watched a Transformers movie with us to decompress.  We were all tired from being at the ballpark all day.  His next game was Saturday at 10:45am so we didn't have to be up super early.  The next game was against the State Line Stars from Ohio.  We lost 9-1 and that was the end of the tournament for us since it was bracket day.  The kids were bummed to lose all 3, but it was ambitious to be in states after being a brand new team.

Evan and his team have one more tournament left in Shelby Township this upcoming weekend.  Hoping they can walk away with at least one win.  They all need a confident boost with lots of losses since the hotel tournament in Mt. Pleasant.
