Since we were unable to go up north for Memorial Weekend because of Sean's soccer tournament, we decided to pick a weekend in June when we had no baseball tournaments and head up to the lake house to visit with Scott's parents and enjoy the lake. We left Friday after school let out (it was my last day of work) and hit the road by 5pm. We got up and immediately enjoyed a sunset boat ride so the boys could fish. Evan didn't have any luck, but Sean caught a huge pike! After the kids went to bed the adults played cards.
Saturday we enjoyed doing things on the lake. The kids paddle boarded and Evan successfully waterskied. He has been able to stand up the past two summers and go a little bit, but this weekend he actually made it all around the cove a few times before letting go. He looked great! It was a good weekend to do it with minimal boat traffic.
Late afternoon we went into Gladwin for the Merry Hearted Cidery. We picked up pizza on the way back to the house from The Hearth and had another fun evening at the house.
Sunday ended up being a cool, rainy day. The kids laid low all morning and then we decided to go swimming at the indoor pool. I snagged some great books at the "leave one, take one" shelf at the indoor pool. We made an early dinner back at the house and then stopped for ice cream at Two Scoops before we got on the road to head home. It was a nice, relaxing weekend! A great way for me to start the summer and only a few days left for the kids and Scott!
