The Christmas Season 2025

Christmas came and went in what felt like the blink of an eye!  We only had three weeks of school after Thanksgiving break and in between sports we did our best to celebrate the season.  The boys helped me set up the big tree before Thanksgiving this year.  We wanted to get in the Christmas spirit!

We celebrated Pops' and Sydney's birthday with our annual gingerbread house making party.  It was a breakfast party this year at Jackie's house.  Evan was extra creative with his house and opted to use leftover breakfast foods like bacon and blueberries.  It was really...something.

We also celebrated my dad's birthday, went to a "holiday market", and enjoyed Christmas movies and crafts at home.  The kids haven't been up to going to look at lights, especially this year.  So, it's definitely different not going to any Christmas events, but everyone enjoyed a slower paced season.

The kids and I baked our cookies when we were on break.  Evan helped make the gingerbread cookies, Sean made the snowball cookies, and I did wreath treats this year and "crack".  Yum!

Christmas Eve was at Scott's parents' house again this year and we went over there at 2pm for games and an earlier dinner.  I brought crockpot mashed potatoes (that weren't the best) and salad.  Our game was using a spatula blindfolded to scoop up the bows on the table.  The kids had fun playing the games and we all won a gift card.  Everyone opened their gifts and then it was dinner and dessert.  We were home by 9pm.

The kids went to bed and the stockings were filled.  It was an early bedtime for all of us.

Christmas morning the boys were up by 8:30am to open gifts.  We had to wake up Sean.  Evan's big gift this year was a new bat and we played a trick on him by wrapping a new bat that Scott found at work that was probably from the 90's.  Sean didn't ask for a big item this year so he got a bunch of clothing and videogame items.  The kids both got the PS5 and they each contributed to that financially.  We made our usual breakfast of cinnamon rolls, eggs, and bacon and got ready for church.

After church we did some food prep and my parents came over at 2pm.  We opened gifts and ate appetizers and then it was time to make dinner.  Ron came over before dinner.  Dinner this year was beef tenderloin, twice baked potatoes, pasta with Bolognese sauce, salad, and green beans.  It was tasty!  We played Uno after dinner and had cookies and coffee.  Scott was watching the Lions game.  It was a good day!

Merry Christmas!
