We had a bonfire in the yard last night and the boys made s'mores and it got me all excited thinking about our summer nights in the backyard or up north...
Last weekend we wrapped up spring soccer and unfortunately, it was on a rainy day. The boys got soaked playing in their games and medals were given out at the Dairy King for Sean's team because of it. Both boys had great seasons! Evan scored two goals and while Sean didn't score this season, he improved tremendously on offense. He had so many close chances! The good news is he's very enthusiastic about playing and even said he was sad to take a break. Looks like we finally found something he's interested in.
Sean's spring baseball is in full swing with make-up games and regularly scheduled games. His game on Friday was disappointing. He struggled each time he was up to bat and didn't end up getting any hits (several fouls though). The first time he "struck out" he fought off tears. After that, he just sort of let it go. Defensively he didn't do too much to help either so it was a hard game to watch.
Sunday, before his game, we did some batting practice with him at the field before the rest of the team showed up and he ended up having a better game! He hit the ball and made it on first every time he was up to bat and he did his best out on the field. I was relieved to see him playing better! He'll get there...and if not, we don't have to sign him up again.
Evan's t-ball season started Sunday evening with a meet and greet at the park by our house. Scott's coaching again so we're excited for our last t-ball season. We have our first practice tonight!
Sunday morning we decided to take advantage of the strawberries being in peak season and went to Rowe's out in Ypsilanti to pick strawberries. My phone was acting up and eventually shut off, for no reason, so I didn't get very many photos, but here's a few:
The berries were perfect! Later in the afternoon I made muffins and cobber with some of the berries. Yum!!
The boys had their final book fair that I volunteered at in Sean's class and he was excited to pick out a Lego book - shocking!
Evan showed off some of the rocks they decorated in art class this year at pick-up one day and was decked out in his hat after his end of the year party that Grandma was able to attend!
Scott and I escaped last Monday evening for a random date night. We took the gift certificates we won in the basket from the school carnival for Buffalo Wild Wings and went out for dinner. Then, because we're super fun, we ran errands at Target, Lowes, and Carters. Oh boy!
I ran my first RunDisney Virtual 5k last week and earned an Incredibles 2 medal that will be on it's way in the mail soon! I chose to run to the fountain downtown and back which ended up being exactly 3.1 miles and finished in 33 minutes and some change. Considering I haven't been running consistently, this was a good time for me.
We finally finished our project with Davey Tree Service and getting some branches cut down from some big trees in our backyard. I will never work with that company again, but it feels good to have that done and over with.
Our project for this summer is to have my parents help us paint the stairway and upstairs hallway. We also need to get our upstairs re-carpeted. So, that's the plan for now at least. No other major house projects this summer at this time. Considering how much work the hard wood floors were last summer, I think Scott is hoping for a relaxing summer around the house...
