A day at the pool and a visit from Uncle Eric!

Summer mode is in full swing over here and the weather has been amazing!  Sunny skies and a heat wave for days!  We decided to cool off at a pool in Livonia that a co-worker of mine recommended and it did not disappoint.  In fact, it is our new favorite spot!

We were the first in line when the pool opened at 1pm and I'm glad we were because it filled up pretty quickly.  The boys were ready to go and jumped in the zero-depth pool.  It was perfect.  They could touch all the way to the end and the water was warm, but refreshing.  Scott and I were able to lay on some lounge chairs for a while as the kids splashed around and played in that pool.

The other pool was roped off into four sections.  Two of them were 3 feet 3 inches deep.  One was just to play/swim in and the other had a basketball net that was quite popular with the teens at the pool.  The other two sections were deeper.  One had a slide and two rock climbing walls that were really fun!  The boys had a blast!

The place was packed, but we still felt that the pool had plenty of space to swim around in and the slide had a minimal line.  There was a snack area with tables and umbrellas too.  It was a gorgeous day at the pool!

We left around 4 and went home to shower and get ready to meet up with my brother who was in town for a quick 24 hours.  He took a red-eye flight to Michigan to visit my grandma since her health was declining and we weren't sure if she'd overcome the pulmonary embolism.  My parents and Eric came out to Plymouth later in the afternoon to meet up with us for dinner at Ironwood and my brother spent the night at our house since we live close to the airport.

We had a great dinner!  My parents came by for a bit afterwards and then the boys got washed up for bed.  They each read a book to Eric and Sean enjoyed sleeping on the air mattress in our bedroom so Eric could sleep in Sean's bed.  The adults drank beer and played bags outside, despite the heat and humidity.

His flight was early the next morning so I stopped at Dunkin' Donuts on the way home and surprised the boys with a donut and Scott with a coffee.  It was sad saying goodbye to my brother since I see him once a year and it was definitely sad knowing his reasons for coming home for this quick visit, but I'm glad we got to spend time together!  The boys were both very excited to see him too.
