My favorite season has officially started and we wasted no time getting into the swing of our favorite fall activities! I'm impressed to say that I have visited four different cider mills this season already (the kids have only been to two). I think it's safe to say that might be my favorite thing about fall.
After my Grandma's funeral, that Saturday my parents, brother, and sister-in-law came out to see Sean's soccer game that was out in Brighton. Since Erwin's was only 15 minutes from the soccer field, we made a stop there first to get their yummy cider and donuts. Sean played paintball with my dad, he jumped around the hay stacks, and we made a decision to do some apple picking, which ended up being a disaster (time-wise). Sean, my dad, and I had to get off the tractor and head back to the car to get to his game on time while the rest of my family did the apple picking. Bummer!
The apples made for some amazing crockpot apple butter, though!
This past weekend I did the Golden Harvest 5k at the Plymouth Orchards with my co-worker. We had the most perfect weather for the first day of fall. It was nice and cool out, which made for a great run through the orchard. My time was a PR for me at 31:47! And I cooled down with a cup of apple cider and a donut. Yum!
The boys soccer has been keeping us busy on the weekends! Sean's team lost their second game out in Brighton to a tough team, but they won this past weekend against Redford. Evan's team lost their first and third games, but won their second. They're learning though!
This past weekend we took the boys to downtown Plymouth for the farmer's market and to see the scarecrows that went up. There are so many this year and they look amazing! It really feels like fall when you drive through downtown and see them. It inspired Scott to get out his outdoor Halloween decorations too. The boys are in full-on Halloween mode...
I'm trying to make sure we're not over scheduled this fall and aside from the weekend of my Grandma's funeral, we are doing pretty good about keeping things scaled back. Scott and I both checked Open House off our work to-do list, catechism started back up with an exciting year for Sean since he will do his First Communion in January, and our September weekends are allowing for time to play at home, watch movies, go out to dinner in the spur of the moment, and hang out with neighbors. So, here's a phone dump of those random moments:
