I was sad to see the summer come to an end, as always! Although, Sean was very excited to start school after he attended open house and met his teacher. Evan...would have been happy staying home and continuing the summer. Me too, buddy!
Open house was exciting for both boys! Evan has Mrs. Ropert this year for Kindergarten. She's the Kindergarten teacher that Sean had so it was nice seeing a familiar face and classroom. Evan was excited to set up his supplies at his desk and take a tour of the room.
Sean has Mrs. Barlow this year for 2nd grade and was bummed to see that all his friends seemed to be separated this year in different classes. Although, after Open House, his best friend, Corey, was moved to his class.
The first day of school went off smoothly! The boys had a half day, Scott had already started with students the previous week, and I had a full day. The boys were going to get off the bus with Corey's mom waiting for them and they were going to hang out at Corey's house for the afternoon. They got pizza for lunch and went to open bounce at Pump It Up. Lucky boys!
I picked them up and we rushed off to swim, which they weren't too happy about! Getting used to the new schedule is always an adjustment. There were many tears and tantrums the first week, but there were also awesome Lego creations built, bike rides outside, and new artwork to hang on the door in the kitchen.
In addition to the start of the school year, both boys started their fall soccer! I think I truly love watching them play soccer. I guess I'm a total soccer mom. Scott is coaching Evan's team again this fall and the team is almost the same with the addition of two new boys (one of whom is Evan's friend from Young 5's). Their first game was on Saturday and they tried their best with a goalie position this year and a referee, but ultimately lost 4-2.
Sean is on the same team as last year with a few new additions as well. Their team is intense this year as they are now on a bigger field with 7 players on the field, one referee, and two line refs. They are also playing teams out of the city like Dearborn, Brighton, Canton, and Redford and they will be ranked. Crazy! He has a home jersey and an away jersey. Their first game was awesome! He did so great and they won 7-4!
And as tradition, we celebrated the end of the first week of school at the Plymouth Fall Festival! I absolutely love this event and what it means to us as a family. What's even better this year was that it actually felt like fall! We enjoyed the cooler temps, rode a few rides, played a few games, danced to the music at the park, and ate a funnel cake! We ran into some friends and Sean's 1st grade teacher too! It was a fun night.
Week two has started off with a bang with school pictures, soccer pictures, swim, soccer practice, and Scott's Open House at his school! It's going to be a busy one for sure, as most weeks through October usually are for us. But, we live for our weekends with soccer games, Farmer's Markets, trips to the cider mills in the area, and all the fall birthdays and Halloween events!
