Prom, Farmer's Market, Teacher Appreciation, and Cinco de Mayo...Phew!

May always brings a full calendar, but it's one of my favorite months of the year because I absolutely love all of the fun events we do each year.  Prom was the first event up this month on Friday the 3rd.  Another year with chilly, rainy weather for prom, but the kids still had a blast.  I showed up around 8pm when kids were required to be there by then.  It's always so much fun to see the kids dressed up and enjoying themselves.  Some of these kids I've had since they were freshmen!

Fun fact:  Desmond and I planned Prom in 2010 and it was a Paris theme.  This is his first year back and now as an administrator and what was the Prom theme?  Paris!  So fun!

The next morning was the first Farmer's Market of the year.  The kids rode their bikes with Scott and I ran behind them since the weather was decent.  We grabbed some muffins and soap from my favorite soap guy.  I ran my best time and did a 5k total running there and back with a nice break in between.  We got back in time to make lunch and start yard work before the mulch delivery arrived.  Scott and Evan worked their butts off most of the day moving mulch!

I escaped while the boys were outside dealing with the mulch to run to Home Depot and get the supplies to make our Teacher Appreciation gifts for the boys' teachers.  This year we decided to make our own terrariums since the boys love cactuses and Arizona.  I bought the planters for $5 each in the Target dollar spot and picked up specific potting soil, rocks, and different succulents.  Each came out to about $20, which is what I've typically spent in the past.

We boxed them up, put some cute tags on them, and they were ready for school!

For Cinco de Mayo, we did our usual cook-out, but this year we invited my parents to come out to celebrate an early Mother's Day with my mom.  The boys both had soccer games back-to-back so it worked out well that my parents could see the boys play.  Dinner was shredded chicken tacos in the crockpot, grilled steak tacos, rice, chips, salsa, and guacamole.  Dessert were key lime cheesecake bites!  Yum!  The margs were flowing, Scott put on Mexican music on Spotify, and the boys were loving the nice weather running around the backyard in their new cowboy costumes Grandma made them to go with their boots from Arizona.

I might have forgotten about sunscreen...

Once the kids were in bed and my parents left to head home, Scott and I enjoyed sitting by a fire in the backyard.  We had a great weekend!
