Coronavirus Quarantine Week 9

After an amazing week celebrating May the 4th, Cinco de Mayo, teacher appreciation week, and Mother's Day, we kicked off week 9 with our usual schedule of homeschooling and working from home (mostly in the evening and on the weekend, amidst Zoom calls and staff meetings).

Sean had a busy week with 6 assignments, a Mystery Science experiment that he picked out on his own, poetry writing, listening to Wayside High being read by his teacher, a Webex call with his class, and some Cub Scouts requirements that he's finishing up.

Evan had 6 assignments as well from his teachers, a Webex call with his class on Friday morning, and a Cub Scout Zoom call Thursday evening.  His assignment for Scouts this week is to go on a hike - already done many times this quarantine and we hiked in Sedona and the Grand Canyon just before that!

He also had a doctor's appointment at IHA to check for an ear infection and to check on some lymph nodes in his neck that had been sticking out for a while.  It was his first time out in his mask and out at a public place so he was completely freaked out.  Poor kid; I could see tears in his eyes in the office.  He's perfectly healthy though and we are just to keep an eye on the lymph nodes to make sure they don't grow in size.

My big outings were to deliver yard signs to graduating seniors from my school in the community and to pick out flowers at Schwartz's Greenhouse in Romulus.  It was nice to see co-workers in the parking lot from 6 feet away!  The Greenhouse was crazy busy!  But, I was in and out in less than an hour and everyone had a mask on.

I joined a Facebook group called "Sisterhood of the Traveling Wine" and I got "wined" twice the first full day I joined!  It was quite exciting.  It even made the news!

My parents came over on Wednesday for a social distanced bike ride around Newburgh Lake and they hung out on the patio afterwards.  It was so nice to see them!

We tried to enjoy as much of the nice weather we could since we knew a lot of rainy weather was coming our way.  A long bike ride, some basketball, and evening baseball were their choice of activities.  The boys also made bug hotels after taking a walk on Hines Drive to collect things!

Once the rain moved in on Thursday, the boys finished the Marvel series!!

On Friday, we celebrated another week surviving the quarantine by decorating cookies I bought as a kit from a baker we like in Livonia.  I picked the "Gamer" kit, even though the boys don't play Fortnite.  They liked the remote controls and I enjoyed decorating the llamas.  It was a good rainy day activity!
