Coronavirus Quaratine Week 12 and We're Free!

Last weekend was a fun one!  We went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning to get muffins and later had the Kona Truck come by for an hour to make snow cones for the neighborhood.  We were surprised with how many people came to get one; it was a huge success!  Some of the boys' friends and their cousin, Adelaide, stayed for pizza outside on the patio.

Scott resealed the driveway, I trimmed all the trees in our backyard, and the boys worked hard on making a fort at the end of the street.  By Sunday, we were all exhausted.  We had a lazy morning watching Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The boys watched the SpaceX launch, a day late.  We did some arts and crafts outside in the afternoon and Evan also wanted to do a Mentos/Pepsi experiment again.  We ended our weekend with a long walk around Newburgh Lake, admiring the new pavilion they built at the park and picking wild flowers.  Sean and I had a sleepover in my bed where we watched My Girl on Netflix together.  Scott didn't mind sleeping on the couch since it was hot, even with the air conditioning on, upstairs.  Is it summer yet?

Monday reminded us that, no, it's not summer.  Back to online learning and work.  Sean wasn't feeling it too much Monday morning, but we all got our work done and enjoyed a bike ride to meet Evan's Cub Scouts requirement.

The big news on Monday was that the Governor lifted the stay home order, a few days early!  Bars and restaurants will open at 50% capacity on Monday, June 8th, salons and hairdressers can start back up on June 15th and it started to feel real when she talked about groups of 100 for gatherings.  I'm not sure how comfortable we'll feel doing any of those things just yet, but it gives me hope that some part of our summer will feel normal.

Tuesday, we did our morning work and Sean's Webex call and once again, headed to the beach.  This time Scott stayed home while we tried out Kensington Metropark.  It was another gorgeous beach day!  By 2pm it was crowded so we left to head home and stopped at Dairy Queen for a treat!

It sure was a hot one!  I even came home motivated to wash my car!

Wednesday was back to the full day of online learning and work routine.  Sean worked on his jump rope skills outside for a while and was so happy to hit 5 in a row (it's been a challenge for him).  Scott had the boys doing a "field day" assignment Evan's teacher posted where he had to add up points he earned for doing different physical activities outside.  By evening, the boys were definitely hot and earned a dip in Nevaeh's pool in her backyard for the second time this week.

Thursday I had to clean out my classroom in the morning.  I walked in to quite a mess since they came and waxed the floors like they do in the summer, but without any preparation on my end to get the room ready for that.  It was so weird to see copies I had made and ready for the next day, papers to grade on my desk, etc.  It was a strange feeling to be closing up.

I came home and did a fun STEM project with the boys where they built their own tree house out of recyclables.  They stuck with it and I think they turned out pretty good!  My parents came over late afternoon for a visit and we got Leo's for a carry out.  It was nice to see them and spend a few hours together!

Friday Sean finally finished up his school work (he had some lengthy assignments).  We had some fun deliveries to make so we went out on our bikes after lunch to drop off Baby Yodas to Syndey and Adelaide that my mom had made them.  The boys played out in the creek behind their house for a little while.  Then, we rode over to Kellan's house to wish him a Happy Birthday and to drop off his gift.  We let the boys all play together outside for a bit.

We made BBQ Chicken Pizza and I had a work Zoom at 6pm that was the Poetry Club's final performance.  It was so incredible and heart breaking to listen to these high school students read their work about their feelings regarding racial inequity and discrimination.  Shelley came over for drinks and to replan our camping trip that was cancelled up at Traverse City State Park.
