Can't believe this kiddo is about to be in the double digits the end of the summer! And we'll be celebrating his 10th birthday with a trip he picked out himself to NYC, just me and him!
Evan has been one busy guy this spring, playing both spring soccer and spring baseball. We'll start with baseball since that's his absolute favorite thing. He plays on the same league as the fall with the same coach. This season they are the San Diego Padres - not the best color combo, but oh well! He has two games a week on Monday and Wednesdays nights and has pitched at every game so far! He is also kicking butt playing in both the outfield and at first base.
Scott is coaching Evan's soccer team again this season, the Avengers. This might be Evan's last season playing soccer as he wants to try out for travel baseball this summer and also wants to do flag football this fall. So far, the soccer team is undefeated with only 3 games left! They would earn a special medal if they stay undefeated, so fingers crossed!
In any other spare time Evan has, he's outside hitting whiffle balls, practicing pitching or running around with the neighbor kids. He's really into collecting baseball cards and seeing how much some of them are worth on the internet. Scott and Evan really seem to be talking baseball stats around the house. Dare I say Evan might be a bit more in the know with current players?
At school, Evan is finishing up 3rd grade with Ms. Scott. He's had a great year academically and seems to have a few friends he loves playing football with at recess. He's reading all kinds of graphic novels at school and some at home and still loves the Goosebumps books (especially the ones about Slappy).
At school he participated in the Fun Run and has Field Day coming up. Unfortunately, they only did a "zoom" field trip this year with a speaker about something related to social studies. I think he was bummed they didn't get to do the typical field trip in 3rd grade to the Geer School (old school house in Plymouth). Hopefully next year will continue to be even more normal!
We're really proud of how hard he worked at school this year from his penmanship and learning cursive to doing well on his math tests. We are also loving watching him play baseball and grow more with each season!
