May Celebrations!

Wow, May always comes in like a lion!

We started by celebrating Nana's birthday a few weeks late over at Mindy's house.  We had brunch foods that we all brought and a cookies and cream birthday cake for dessert, which Luka loved me feeding it to him.  Luna and JoJo successfully played together in the front lawn.  It was a nice morning!

A few days later it was May the Fourth and we always like to do something for that.  We all wore Star Wars shirts to school/work and we got lucky with a rainy night and cancelled sports the night before and took advantage of that by watching Rise of Skywalker.

Then it was Cinco de Mayo, which is always a big deal for me at work and at home.  I did some scaled down parties in my classes spread out over the 5th and 6th because of block scheduling.  And at home I cooked a big spread with Margaritas before Evan and Scott rushed off to baseball practice.  Margarita-to-go for Scott!

It was Teacher Appreciation Week and I really felt the love this year!  I had a few students give gift cards and/or homemade cards.  Link Crew decorated the sidewalks and parking lots where the teachers come in with fun messages.  Our district bought us all zip-up jackets with South Redford Public Schools embroidered on it.  And our administration at the high school catered in Slows BBQ for lunch and gave us leather personalized coozies.  It was a really nice week!

Our school hosted Prom for the first time in two years on Friday at Laurel Manor.  I popped in to see the kids all dressed up since it's close to my house.

And finally, it was Mother's Day!  I cashed in on a gift card from my brother and his wife for a massage at a place in downtown Northville on Saturday afternoon.  Then we had dinner out at Compari's with my parents to celebrate my mom.  The weather was so nice!  We grabbed ice cream at Alpine Chocolate Haus and checked out the new fountain real quick before heading back to my house for the Kentucky Derby and a bonfire.

Sunday, on actual Mother's Day, my boys and Scott spoiled me with breakfast in bed.  They went to the grocery store so I did a Peloton ride, arms workout, and 20 minute walk with Luna.  I got some reading in.  We went on a family bike ride around Newburgh Lake.  Then we went to Sean's soccer game, which was very exciting and they won.  We picked up carry out from Red Olive on the way home and the boys played outside with the neighbors and had more ice cream when the ice cream truck came through the neighborhood.  It was a really nice week of celebrating!
