Memorial Weekend Up North 2022

Friday after I got out of work, we hit the road to Gladwin.  Scott had the day off and he pulled the boys out of school a couple hours early so we wouldn't hit traffic.  We picked up Jimmy Johns around Frankenmuth and from that point on, it was smooth sailing.  When we got there on Friday, we just hung out, went fishing on the pontoon boat and played cards with the adults once the kids went to bed.

Saturday morning after breakfast, everyone but Nana and Luka went to golf 9 holes at Lakeside.  This was my second time golfing...ever.  It was alright and I'd like to think I did okay.  We went back to the house for a quick lunch then went into Gladwin to go to the cidery.

Back at the house the kids enjoyed some time playing in the sand and water.  I put together dinner for everyone: hamburgers, orzo salad, tossed salad, chips, and fruits/veggies.  I made a mixed berry cobbler for dinner with whip cream.  We took Luka for a stroller ride and the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood then took the boat out again to fish.

Sunday morning Scott, Pops, Matt and Mindy went to golf 18 holes in West Branch.  Nana and I held down the fort with the kids and dogs.  I was able to get in a walk with Luna and then came back to do a quick Peloton 20 minute bodyweight strength class in the basement.  The kids played in the sand and water pretty much all morning until lunch and then again after lunch.

When the golfers got back at 2pm, Scott and Pops launched both jet-skis into the water and the kids enjoyed jet-ski rides.  We took a nature cruise in the pontoon boat and saw two fawns and a turtle.  The kids also got to do a tubing ride too.  Lots of sun, sand, and lake time that afternoon!  Nana made grilled chicken for dinner to put in fajitas or Caesar salad.  It was tasty!  And then it was a trip to the Corner House for ice cream, which unfortunately, was a 20 minute wait.  But, worth it!

Monday morning we made breafast burritos with some of the leftover fixings from the night before.  Evan and Sean took one more paddle boat ride while Scott and I packed up and cleaned up the beach area.  Then we hit the road home early to avoid traffic!  It was the right idea!  We were home by 12:30pm to be able to make lunch and clean up our own yard.  I powerwashed the deck and set up all the patio furniture and Scott worked on cleaning out the garage.  We got pizza for dinner and enjoyed a movie together before an early bedtime for all.

It was a great Memorial Weekend!
