I'm a couple months late with Sean's half birthday update, but it's hard to believe he's wrapping up 5th grade and his last year at Farrand Elementary.
Sean had a fun winter trying wrestling for the first time with the Plymouth-Canton Wrestling Club. He even went to three tournaments and placed at two of them. We are encouraging him to do it again next year both with the club and with his middle school team. He started spring soccer for what will likely be his last season playing. His team moved up to division 1 and they are kicking butt! Sean has been working hard to score a goal as a forward and has had many shots on goal at the games. We're hoping he can end his soccer career with a goal!
In an ideal world for Sean, he would be content playing videogames or playing outside. We decided to let him start playing Fortnite during the winter and it's been something he's enjoyed while calling his friends on Messenger Kids to play with him. He's gotten pretty close with Charlie and Yota at school and has bonded with them over Fortnite.
School has started to do more events as COVID has calmed down a bit. They did a skating night at the Skatin' Station that Sean enjoyed. They also had a Fun Run as a big fundraiser and thankfully had a photographer snap some shots of the kids participating since I couldn't be there. He'll be going to the Howell Nature Center for the 5th grade "Camp Howell" field trip. It's an all day (pick them up at 7pm from school!) field trip that Scott will chaperone. They'll also have their 5th grade graduation the last week of school in the morning one day where the rest of the school will clap them out. I'm going to try not to cry...
He also had his middle school orientation one evening recently. We went with my sister-in-law and her daughter (Sean's cousin). He's excited to be in the same school as AJ finally. It seems like there's lot of good things going on at the middle school and I'm excited for Sean to be a part of it. He signed up to take band next year (percussion) and we're hoping he'll join the cross country team and wrestling team.
We are so proud of Sean and how much he's learning, growing and maturing! I can't wait to see what this next year holds for him, but at the same time I wish time would slow down. He just seems like such a big kid now.
