Sean has been busy himself this month too! If I thought he had been having word explosions each month, this past month must have been a phrase explosion because now he's trying so hard to put things together and it's adorable! The other day while putting him down for a nap he told me, "Night night mama" and while watching a cute video on Grandpa's iPad of Grover riding a bicycle and crashing he giggled and said, "Boom. Down. Ouch."
Favorite Toys/Activities:
- Animals! He's loving the zoo trips and he's trying to really learn their names, as well as their sounds.
- Bubble Guppies - the TV show! Everyone I know had been raving about how cool this show was for his age group and sure enough, he will sit longer than the intro song to watch it. I even like it!
- Bailey. He loves his dog. And we've graduated from calling her "Dog" to now "Bail" or just "B". He throws himself on her, he throws her the ball, he chases her, etc. And she definitely loves him with all the hand outs he gives her during meals and snacks.
- Airplanes, buses, boats, trucks, tractors, and cars! I'm glad it's expanding beyond cars, but he loves anything that moves! And now he's starting to connect things like, "Papa's tractor" since he's gotten a chance to ride Papa's tractor up north.
- Up North. He really enjoys being on the lake, playing in the sand, running up and down the giant hill, going on the boat, and now eating ice cream! But, then again, who wouldn't? I just feel blessed that we're able to give Sean these experiences - thanks Papa and Nana!
- Ice cream! Finally! I can now say he's a product of Scott and I. Before he wouldn't touch it, but I figured out the key ingredient...cookies. It needs to be cookies and cream.
- Strawberries, grapes, and watermelon this month. So refreshing!
- Sandwiches with turkey and cheese.
- Ribs! He tried ribs up north and seems to really like them.
On an even more exciting level, he's started taking naps in his toddler bed and we'll be trying bedtime in it this week! He doesn't get out of bed until he hears us right outside his bedroom door when it's time to get up, so I'm feeling confident that he's ready to make the full transition.
As far as potty training is going, he has peed on the toilet once last week! And he's now telling us when he's gone "poop" in his diaper and will say "yes" when we ask him if he needs a new diaper. While I'm not in any rush to start potty training in full swing yet, I'm excited that we're making some progress in the first few steps. Learning the language and getting familiar with the potty are our first goals. I don't think we'll get into potty training more until after the new baby arrives in September (or late August if he's anything like Sean).
I can't believe he's a few months away from turning 2! And I can't help but mention to anyone who's around how much he looks like a little boy now! From sleeping in a toddler bed to peeing on the toilet, he's getting so big! 2nd birthday party plans are already in the making...and yes, I know I'll have a newborn on my hands. But, the party will go on! :)
