Evan decided he wanted to play both spring soccer and start spring baseball. He did two years of t-ball through the City of Plymouth and was ready to try machine-pitch through Plymouth Canton Little League. Sean did a different baseball league last year, so this PCLL is new to us this year. They had Evan in another t-ball age bracket, but we decided to let him play up to machine-pitch.
His first game was on the league's Opening Day! They did such a nice event for the families to start the season and even had Paws show up for pictures. Too bad the weather was windy and freezing considering we had to sit outside for four hours...
They introduced all the teams, sang the National Anthem, and gave recognition to several people in the league. The first pitch was thrown by a girl who's brother passed away a few weeks ago from a heart condition that played on the league in previous years. It was really touching.
Evan's game started about an hour later. We packed him a bag lunch, although he was excited to buy some Big League Chew gum from the concession stand. The game was an hour and a half and he got to play right field, 1st base, catcher, and short stop. He made contact with the ball a few times, but did not get on base. Not bad for his first game!
He also had his first spring soccer game on Thursday evening last week. They had two rained out games cancelled prior to that so it was exciting to finally see them play. It's the same team since the fall with the addition of two boys that are new to soccer. They lost in a tough game 2-1, but they played decent.
Let's go Fire Snakes and let's go Giants! Should be an exciting spring for Evan!
