I let the kids vote on either camping for a few nights or going to Cleveland to see a different ball park. I think you can guess who voted for what, but ultimately, we agreed to do Cleveland and the timing was perfect to see the Tigers play against the Guardians while we were there. We left on a Sunday morning and had a picnic lunch in the parking garage by Lake Erie when we arrived. Our first item on the agenda was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
The next morning we woke up and had breakfast downstairs (we were comped breakfast as a "sorry" for the pool being closed). After, we put ourselves together and went over to Edgewater Beach, which was only 8 minutes from our hotel and right on Lake Erie. It was a partly cloudy day, but we still enjoyed ourselves.
We had to head back to the hotel to start getting cleaned up for the baseball game and dinner. We decided to go to a Mexican restaurant by our hotel for dinner that was pretty good. The best part of all of this was the hotel's proximity to everything. The ball park was a short 10 minute walk. We walked the perimeter of the park, shopped in the store, and then finally went in to watch the Tiger's warm-up. Skubal was pitching and we saw him up close and personal in the outfield and in the bullpen. He threw a ball up to Evan, which caused a little friction with Sean, but that was later rectified when Urshela threw up a ball to Sean. Our seats were up high behind home plate, but mid game we snuck down to right behind the Tiger's dugout. It was a great game! Rogers hit an in-field home run and the Tigers won 8-2.
Tuesday morning we checked out of the hotel, grabbed breakfast at a place right down the street called Yours Truly, which was pretty tasty, and hit the road to head home. It was a fun little getaway and it was fun to cross off another ballpark on our scratch-off map!
