A week in Gladwin

We kicked off summer officially and were anxious to get up north since our usual trip up for Memorial Weekend was a bust this year with the stay home order.  Pops picked up the boys on a Friday and gave Scott and I a few nights at home alone before we joined the kids on Monday afternoon.  We enjoyed our kid free time finishing our garage sale, cleaning the garage, eating on a patio at Los Tres Amigos, riding our bikes, and just relaxing.  The boys enjoyed their time without us too.  Here's a fish they caught on one of their many fishing trips out on the pontoon.

When we joined them on Monday afternoon, we got to work on helping spread and move 10 yards of sand to their beach.  They lost a part of their beach with high water levels a month ago and needed to replenish it.  Since it was a hot afternoon we took a break to go swimming and the boys showed us their "nature cruise" around an island where they had been spotting deer, turtle, muskrats, and big fish.  We grilled brisket burgers for dinner and enjoyed cards in the evening once the boys were in bed.

Tuesday the weather was all over the place.  We experienced a few heavy storms blow through that dropped the temperature significantly.  But, we were still able to fish, go for a boat ride, and get ice cream in town.

One of the things we all enjoyed this time up was an evening walk looking for wildlife.  We saw so many deer!  One ran right in front of me out from the woods after playing peek-a-boo with me!

Wednesday we did some water activities in the morning and then the boys all went to golf 9 holes at the course overlooking the lake.  Evan really tried hard this time and did great!  Sean, of course, was loving it!  He loves to golf.

The boys came home to have a late lunch and time out in the water again doing jet-skis and yet another nature cruise.  We made grilled chicken ceasar salads for dinner and Pops made a bonfire with s'mores.

Thursday and Friday were more of the same!  Time on the water, nature cruise rides on the boat, evening walks looking for deer, and a carry out dinner on Thursday.  Friday, we packed up after dinner to hit the road and head home.  It was a great week up!

We'll be on our way back up in a few days to celebrate the 4th on the lake and to celebrate Adelaide's 9th birthday.  Should be a fun long weekend with some hot days on the lake!
