Detroit Tigers games during COVID

This past week, we took the day off and pulled the boys out of school to go to our first Tigers game this year.  It was a day game against the KC Royals.  We invited Scott's parents to come with us as a mother's day gift to his mom.  It was a fun day!

We dropped Luna off at daycare in the morning, went to Costco to stock up on some things, and got it all put away in time for Nana and Pops to pick us up.

They ended up winning 4-3 in an exciting top of the 9th.  They had been winning 4-1 the entire game, but the closer made it real interesting.  I think we all enjoyed the food and drinks Comerica had to offer as it seemed like we were snacking our way through the game.  It was a fun day out!

I also went to the game on Sunday with Gillian.  She had won tickets from Wayne State and invited me to go with her.  They played the Chicago Cubs and lost 5-1.  Ouch!  Not the best game to watch, but it was fun to be there, to tailgate before hand a bit, and we even popped into Greektown Casino on our way back to the car for Gillian's first time in a casino.  We both lost $20.  Oh well!

Evan's Machine Pitch Baseball

This year Evan is playing on the Arizona Diamondbacks machine-pitch team.  While his team is young (most are doing their first year of machine-pitch and this is his 2nd), his coach has done a really nice job running practices and getting them ready.  Their first game was a tie against the Rockies.  Evan was the catcher for two innings and he had the first base hit of the game for his team.

Their second game was a tough one.  They played the Royals and I swear, every kid on that team could hit to the outfield.  They are allowed 5 runs per inning before it's forced over and they did that every single inning.  I think the final score was 25-2.  Evan struck out both times at bat.

Their game this past weekend was much better!  They played the Brewers and won 8-2.  He played against our neighbor two doors down.  Evan hit 3 out of 4 times at bat and played the pitcher position one of the innings.  It was fun seeing him improve this game and feed off of the energy his team brought.

Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, and more!

I absolutely love the month of May.  There are so many fun celebrations to kick off the month, the weather is nice, and spring sports are in full swing.  I can't get over how quickly we became busy.  Dare I say it almost feels like life pre-COVID?

We celebrated May the Fourth by wearing Star Wars shirts, re-organizing the Star Wars Legos we have, and putting on Attack of the Clones.

Cinco de Mayo is always a big deal in our house.  I actually took the day off of work to be home with Luna.  I cooked my usual spread that we enjoyed, rushed since Evan had guitar and baseball practice.  I made sure to have a Corona or two after we got back home later.

My school provided lunch for us for Teacher Appreciation Week.  They catered in Slows BBQ from Detroit and got us all a long-sleeve T-shirt repping our school.  I picked the pulled pork and it came with sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, and a roll.  Yum!

Friday night the boys had an event for kids at the Huron Valley Humane Society in Ann Arbor.  It was called "Pets and Pajamas".  Essentially, they got to wear their pajamas, bring a sleeping bag and pillow, and hang out for four hours visiting the animals, eating pizza and snacks, and watching Finding Nemo.  They had a blast!  And that means that Scott and I got a night out in Ann Arbor.  We went to Hop Cat for dinner and beers and then we walked to Grizzly Peak to try some beer there too before it was time to go.

The Farmers Market opened up the 8th so we were excited to get muffins and take Luna for her first time.  She did great!  She loved getting to sniff and say hi to all the other dogs.  The fountain is under construction in the park so we weren't able to sit in our usual spot while we ate our muffins, but it was still a nice visit.  We got some mulch dumped into our truck for the front yard and then it was off to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa at Los Tres Amigos as an early Mother's Day celebration and Evan's baseball game!

Speaking of Mother's Day, my boys spoiled me as usual.  It was a rainy day so we were stuck inside, but they woke me up with breakfast in bed.  They each had made a handmade gift/picture at school.  I read for a little bit then decided to go for a run in the rain.  We spent the afternoon being lazy, watching movies and hanging out.  I picked Buddy's Pizza for dinner in Livonia and we came home to watch Mrs. Doubtfire before going to bed.  It was a fun, lazy day!  I don't get many lazy days on the weekends so it was much appreciated.
