Memorial Day Weekend 2019!

Scott had Friday off work, but the boys and I had school so we didn't get on the road until 3pm to head up north for Memorial Day Weekend.  Scott had picked up Jimmy Johns for dinner to eat on the road and some new movies for the boys from the library to watch while driving.  It took us about 3 hours and 15 minutes to get up with no stops because of some traffic, but everyone was excited to get there and see this view!

It was a bit chilly, so we made the boys keep their coats on.  Evan was not minding the cool temps of the water at all.  In fact, we had to tell him to come closer to the shore so he didn't get soaked.  Then it was finally time for a pontoon boat ride and Evan's RC speed boat debut!  He did so great!  And the boat far exceeded all of our expectations.

We put the boys to bed and got ready to play cards with Matt and Mindy who made it up just after our boat ride.  Cheese balls made an appearance and Pops and I were the Euchre champs for the night winning four games in a row!

The next morning we had some thunderstorms moving in.  Scott went golfing with his dad, Mindy, and Matt.  I got in a 2 mile run before the storms started.  Nana and I watched the boys all morning and it wasn't easy.  They were mouthy, defiant, and were not happy with cool, rainy weather.  They wanted to fish or play in the water and we couldn't really do much of that until later in the day.

Once the golfers returned we made lunch and the weather started warming up for swimming and boating.  In fact, by late afternoon it was dare I say...hot!  We took a pontoon boat ride because Sean wanted to jump in the lake and we made a stop at our favorite park so the boys could play.  It was a nice afternoon.  I made shredded chicken tacos and rice for dinner for everyone.  And we made s'mores over a campfire for dessert.

Sunday morning I did another 2 mile run since it was another night of cards and drinks.  I needed to run off some of the calories from drinking!  Scott and Pops stayed home from golf to help me with the boys all morning, while Nana, Mindy, and Matt went into West Branch to golf.  It was a much smoother morning.  The boys went fishing, played in the sand, and we took a paddle boat ride.

I made lunch for everyone and then drove out to West Branch to meet up with Nana and Mindy at the outlet mall.  So many stores have gone out up there, but they put in a winery!  So, we got sidetracked and did a wine tasting which was so much fun!  Nana also informed us of a new brewery that opened up so we drove down the road and did a flight there too.  It was a fun afternoon!

We got back in time for some sun, some boating, and some cornhole!  Pops grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner and we made a stop at Two Scoops for ice cream.  They had cookie jar - one of our favorites!  Yum!

Sunday morning came bright and early and it was time to pack up and head back home before massive traffic set in.  We left by 9:15am and made it home in record time stopping in the drive-thru to pick up lunch as we rolled in to Plymouth.  We ate, unpacked, and the boys were anxious to get outside and play with the neighbors.  It was Jameson's birthday so they did some water balloons, sunbathed (for 2 minutes), and had a picnic dinner over at his house with cupcakes.  I'd say the boys had a good weekend!  We all did!
